National

A free course on basic computer Internet use will be offered by regional government bodies throughout the nation until March 2002.
The course lasts for 12 hours per person.

Course Contents:

1. Basic WINDOWS use
2. How to create documents in Japanese
3. Using the Internet
4. Sending and receiving E-mail

The course is free of charge but participants need to pay approximately \1,000 for a textbook. Anyone over 20 years of age living in Japan may take the course. If there are too many applications for a course, successful applicants will be chosen by lottery.

Regional:

In Kobe courses will be held in foreign languages for people who do not understand Japanese very well.
The languages are Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Chinese and basic Japanese.
