Schooling Expense Assistance System


The Board of Education of each local government provides assistance to parents of children attending public elementary and junior high schools who cannot afford such expenses as stationary, study materials (texts etc.) and school lunches, so that their children can enjoy school.

1. Persons to whom the Schooling Assistance may be provided (Required conditions for qualification)
(1) Recipients of livelihood allowance
(2) Recipients of children's allowance
(3) Those whose total income in the previous year (or amount after special exemptions) was below the standard
*(As to the standard, please check with your child's s teacher)
(4) Those who have difficulty sending their children to school for financial reasons not mentioned above
Ex: Income decreased due to unemployment
Income decreased due divorce

2. How to apply
(1) Applications for School Expense Assistance qualification are accepted every school year
(2) Only one application can be submitted by one household

Notice:
(1) Persons living in Kobe City can receive Schooling Expense Assistance from April 1 or backdated to April 1provided the application is made before June 15. If the application is made after June 15, the applicant can receive the Schooling Expense Assistance from the month the application is made.
(2) The Schooling Expense Assistance System differs slightly according the Board of Education of each local government.
