For release of multilingual newsletter "To-Zai-Nan-Boku"
Hanshin-Awaji great earthquake was an unprecedented event that has gave disastrous accident but also more tragic damage to the minorities. Foreign resident was unable to get necessary information in the troubled situation feeling like clutching at even straws. Because almost every information about the earthquake was provided by Japanese only. Imagine, if you become ill and need to see a doctor in foreign country where you don't know their language. Language is a lifeline to get important information for survival as same as it is a tool for communication.
Radio station FM YY has been broadcasting in eight languages that had started by regional people for foreign resident who suffered by the earthquake who need information in their own language. However, only limited people is able to listen to information broadcast from radio. Therefore Kobe Asian Town Promotion Council issues a periodical multilingual newsletter with cooperation of FM YY and some organization for life counseling.
We hope this newsletter helps people who came to Japan from all over the world and live in Japan.
